Job Description

POSITION:                   Practical Nurse Instructors (PT and FT)

SITE/BUILDING:           Sayville Adult Education Center and Various Other Sites in Suffolk County

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Continuously engage with myriad professional and self-improvement practices
• Engage adult learners and conduct classroom and clinical instruction
• Design and carry-out lesson plans that recognize students’ abilities and learning styles
• Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as, excellent customer service skills
• Provide ongoing student advertisement and academic counseling
• Prepares test items for examination, supervises and evaluates test results
• Maintains student records
• Participates in the development and evaluation of program curriculum
• Participates in the formation and implementation of the program philosophy and objectives
• Evaluates student progress
• Evaluates student patient care according to establishes criteria
• While in clinical setting, interprets hospital (facility) policy to students
• Cooperates with head nurse or team leader to carry out medical orders of patients assigned to students and the development of nursing care plans
• Cooperates with head nurse or designated personnel in selecting and planning students’ assignments
• Orients students to clinical areas
• Supervises and evaluates nursing care provided by the students
• Conducts planned clinical conferences and classes

START DATE:  To be determined

SALARY:         $52.11 per hour/Part Time and $52.11per hour/Full Time

Job Qualifications

• Holds current NYS Registered Nurse License
• Bachelor degree in Nursing
• Four (4) years of Nursing experience
• Teaching experience a plus but not required
• After appointment, will complete Adult Education Job Skills Training Instructor Certification and Visiting Lecturer License (if not already held)
• Demonstrate commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment
