Job Description

POSITION:                  Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Teacher (PT - Day and/or Evening)

ASSIGNMENT:            Incarcerated Education/Alternative High School Program

SITE/BUILDING:          Riverhead Correctional Facility, Riverhead, NY

                                    Yaphank Correctional Facility, Yaphank, NY

                                    Alternative High School Program

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively engage students (Grades 7-12) in the delivery of high-quality instruction that reflects the diverse backgrounds of the participants in an alternative setting
  • Establish a supportive classroom environment that fosters the social-emotional learning of all students
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of all students
  • Collaborate with colleagues and program partners in an integrated approach that utilizes various curriculum to create lessons aligned to current NYS learning standards

START DATE:             As soon as possible

SALARY:                     $51.22/hour (BA)

                                    $55.35/hour (MA)

Job Qualifications
  • NYS TESOL Certification
  • Dual certification preferred
