Job Description
POSITION:                     School Social Worker - Anticipated (FT, 10-month)
ASSIGNMENT:                  Human Support Services – Student Assistance Services
SITE/BUILDING:                 William Floyd School District, UPK Locations
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support implementation of the district’s social-emotional learning curriculum and prevention programming
  • Provide classroom-based, small-group, and short-term individual social-emotional and behavioral support as appropriate
  • Consult with teachers regarding student needs, positive behavior strategies, and classroom functioning
  • Provide parent/caregiver support, education, ad training related to child development, social-emotional wellness, and positive behavior
  • Promote family engagement and assist families with connections and referrals to appropriate school and community resources
  • Collaborate with UPK staff, administrators, families, and related service providers
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and participate in program planning, professional development, and supervision
START DATE:                   As soon as possible
MINIMUM STARTING SALARY:     $69,427.00
 
Job Qualifications
  • NYS School Social Worker Certification
  • Experience working with young children and families in a school or community-based setting
  • Knowledge and experience in social-emotional learning (SEL), early prevention, and behavioral support
  • Strong consultation and collaboration skills with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of substance use prevention and the development of early protective factors preferred
  • Bilingual preferred
