POSITION:               Divisional Administrator for Innovation and Regional Initiatives (FT, 12-month)

The Divisional Administrator reports directly to the District Superintendent.  The principal function is to provide advanced administrative, analytical, and strategic leadership support to the District Superintendent in their dual role as Chief Executive Officer of Eastern Suffolk BOCES and regional representative of the New York State Commissioner of Education. Coordinates the planning, implementation, and evaluation of New York State Education Department (NYSED) initiatives across the region, with a particular focus on the NYSED Regionalization Initiative, continuous improvement systems, and cross-district collaboration.

The goal of this role is to extend the District Superintendent’s regional leadership capacity by aligning district support, operational coordination, and shared services to promote equitable improvement across Suffolk County school districts. All of these regional initiatives will help our internal agency and externally facing stakeholders to provide strategic leadership, coordination, and operational support that advances Eastern Suffolk BOCES, and continuous improvement efforts across the Eastern Suffolk region.

LOCATION:              Patchogue, NY

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Planning

1. Support the District Superintendent in planning and coordinating NYS Regionalization Plan activities and related NYSED initiatives across the region.

2. Analyze district and regional data to identify achievement gaps, growth patterns, and regional strengths.

3. Plan regional strategies that help component districts understand student and operational performance within a broader regional framework.

4. Support the comprehensive planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reflective review of Eastern Suffolk BOCES and NYSED initiatives.

5. Translate strategic regional priorities into actionable plans, timelines, and deliverables that support systemwide improvement, continuous improvement structures, and Regents’ priorities.

6. Anticipate regional initiative implementation challenges, recommend proactive solutions, and foster organizational effectiveness and innovation.

7. Ensure that all regional initiatives strictly align with NYSED requirements, State standards, timelines, reporting expectations, and emerging educational policies.

8. Assist in cultivating and advancing strategic regional partnerships that strengthen instructional capacity, operational effectiveness, equitable access, and student outcomes.

9. Support the design, establishment, and implementation of regional continuous improvement structures and collaborative learning networks.

B. Managing

1.   Coordinate District Superintendent–directed initiatives related to regional data analysis, accountability, and county-wide collaboration.

2.   Support budget planning, fiscal monitoring, and operational alignment for District Superintendent–directed projects and regional initiatives.

3.   Manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives involving Eastern Suffolk BOCES staff, district leaders, and external partners.

4.   Develop and oversee project scopes, timelines, milestones, accountability measures, budgets, and regulatory compliance requirements for regional initiatives.

5.   Monitor regional project outcomes and provide periodic progress updates and dashboard reports to the District Superintendent and Cabinet.

6.   Oversee the compilation, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of regional and district-level data for the District Superintendent and Cabinet.

7.   Monitor regional student performance outcomes and collaborate with internal departments to ensure data accuracy, coherence, accessibility, and usability.

8.   Support data-informed decision-making that advances continuous improvement efforts, equitable access to educational opportunities, and organizational planning.

9.   Identify regional trends, emerging needs, and programmatic opportunities through the deep analysis of educational, operational, and organizational data.

10. Prepare high-quality briefing materials, dashboards, reports, presentations, and regional summaries for leadership, component districts, NYSED, and external audiences.

11. Collaborate with Eastern Suffolk BOCES personnel assigned to regional initiatives, projects, and cross-departmental work, regardless of home division.

12. Foster collaboration across divisions while promoting organizational quality principles, accountability, reflective practices, and continuous improvement systems.

13. Support the professional growth and capacity-building of staff engaged in regional and system-level initiatives.

C. Interacting

1.   Serve as a primary liaison among the District Superintendent, component school districts, Eastern Suffolk BOCES leadership, and the New York State Education Department

      regarding regional improvement initiatives.

2.   Support districts in interpreting regional and state data to identify targeted, evidence-based supports and opportunities for shared learning.

3.   Facilitate regional conversations, forums, and advisory groups that elevate individual district strengths as assets for regional improvement.

4.   Serve as a primary point of contact for Eastern Suffolk school district superintendents and their designees regarding assigned initiatives and regional efforts.

5.   Communication clearly, professionally, and consistently with all internal and external stakeholders.

6.   Prepare, coordinate, and facilitate executive correspondence, presentations, reports, and materials on behalf of the District Superintendent.

7.   Support the District Superintendent in maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with component districts, NYSED, higher education institutions, and regional partners.

8.   Assist in strengthening a proactive, collaborative, and communicative working relationship between the District Superintendent and the Chief Operating Officer.

9.   Represent Eastern Suffolk BOCES in regional meetings, workgroups, conferences, presentations, and statewide initiatives.

10. Develop and deliver clear, data-informed presentations to internal leadership and component school districts related to NYS Regionalization and regional analyses.

11. Translate complex educational and operational data into accessible visuals, narratives, and dashboards to support district understanding and planning.

12. Present regional analyses that highlight district strengths, gaps, and opportunities for resource-sharing.

13. Support the District Superintendent in preparing and presenting materials for regional meetings and NYSED-related briefings.

14. Facilitate collaboration among component districts, ESBOCES divisions, higher education institutions, and external partners to maximize regional resources and efficiencies.

15. Support districts in identifying shared services, operational efficiencies, regional partnerships, and innovative service models.

16. Coordinate regionalization communications, implementation supports, documentation, resource development, and stakeholder engagement activities.

D. Evaluating

1. Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of regionalization supports, collaborative networks, and data-driven strategies.

2. Monitor district engagement, needs, and overall satisfaction with regional initiatives and collaborative networks.

3. Use evaluative and reflective findings to guide the continuous improvement of regional initiatives and programs.

4. Facilitate evaluative and reflective practices that support continuous improvement, organizational learning, and informed decision-making across regional initiatives and projects.

5. Support the coordination and implementation of continuous improvement processes and regional action plans.

E. Professional Development

1. Maintain current, state-of-the-art knowledge of accountability systems, regional analysis methodology, and regional leadership responsibilities.

2. Support leadership development within assigned departments, regional initiatives, and the broader agency.

3. Maintain current knowledge of NYSED initiatives, regional structures, and educational policy implementation.

4. Participate in state, local, and national professional activities and organizations related to job responsibilities.

F. Additional Responsibilities

1. Performs other duties as assigned by the District Superintendent.
